Forward an Email to a Text Message on PC
While the steps to forward email to your phone as a text are mostly the same regardless of the email client you use, we have mentioned the steps for Gmail and Outlook separately.
On Gmail
Step 1: Open Gmail and log into your account if you haven’t already.
Step 2: Right-click over the email you want to forward and choose Forward.
Step 3: This will open the email in a new compose window. Here, shorten the message as many SMS clients won’t allow you to send texts of more than 200-300 characters.
Step 4: Now, mention the email-to-SMS gateway (the one we mentioned earlier) for your carrier in the recipient area.
Step 5: Once you are sure about all the changes, click Send.
On Outlook
Step 1: Open the Outlook app or web and log in to your account.
Step 2: Open the mail you want to forward and click the forward icon.
Step 3: Add the email-to-SMS gateway for your carrier in the recipient section.
Step 4: Click Send to confirm.
Using Extension
Besides these steps, you can always rely on the good old friend extension. While there are many extensions, we will use the Email to Text extension available as a Google Workspace add-on. Unlike normal extensions, once installed, you can access this add-on from any other browser on your PC.
Note: According to the developers, the extension is only for US/CA numbers. We will update this guide if we find any other alternatives. Additionally, this add-on is only available for Gmail and won’t work with other mail clients.
Step 1: Go to the add-on using the link below and hit Install.
Step 2: Choose the Google account you want to use for the add-on.
Step 3: After that, click Allow to confirm.
Step 4: Once done, proceed to Gmail, right-click and choose Forward.
Step 5: From here, choose the add-on icon from the toolbars.
Tip: If you can’t find the addon, expand the compose mail window; you should now see it.
Step 6: You will be required to create a Business account while using it for the first time. After that, type the phone number or select the contact and choose Add.
Tip: If you have a contact list in Excel or other file format, add them using the Import option.
Step 7: Once you are okay, click Add X Recipients, where the X represents the number of recipients.
Step 8: You can see all the phone numbers/contacts in the recipient field. Add any extra info to your message and hit Send.
You can send 5 Free SMS, and afterward, you must choose a suitable plan to send email to your phone number.
