How to Add Multiple Admins to WhatsApp Channels
WhatsApp Channels allow you to follow your interests and create a community of people with a shared passion. You can create a WhatsApp Channel with your friends and family to send out updates or broadcast messages seamlessly. Of course, should your channel catch on, you may have trouble managing it all by yourself. Well, the good news is that WhatsApp now allows you to add multiple admins to your Channels.
Even if you don’t have a highly populated WhatsApp Channel, having multiple admins for efficient management is always good. Here’s how to add and manage admins in WhatsApp Channels on mobile and desktop.
Invite Multiple Admins to the WhatsApp Channel on Mobile
The new update to the popular instant messaging app lets you add more than one admin to manage your Channel – 16, to be precise. Each admin gets the same management rights as you, like changing the description, profile picture, channel name, sending messages, and more.
Before moving on with the steps, we suggest installing the latest version of WhatsApp on your iPhone or Android phone.
Once done, here’s how to add multiple admins to WhatsApp Channels.
Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your iPhone and Android phone.
Step 2: Tap on the Updates tab and select your Channel name.
Step 3: Go to the channel name at the top. Then, scroll down and select Invite Admins.
Step 4: Tap on Invite again to confirm.
Step 4: Select or search the name from your contacts. Then, tap the Invite option at the top-right corner.
Step 5: Tap the Send icon at the bottom-right corner to send your invite.
If you want to cancel an invite, you can do so by tapping the name of your contact and selecting Revoke Invite.
Then tap on Revoke again to confirm.
Accept WhatsApp Channel Admin Invite on Mobile
Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your device and then tap the chat received with the message.
Step 2: Tap on View Invite and then select Accept Invite.
You will now be visible as Admin of the desired WhatsApp Channel.
Remove Admins From WhatsApp Channel on Mobile
Once you add multiple admins, you can edit or remove them from your WhatsApp Channel, too. Here’s how.
Step 1: Open WhatsApp and go to your Channel.
Step 2: Tap the Channel name and select the name of the admin.
Step 3: Select Dismiss As Admin.
You also have the option to Transfer Ownership of the WhatsApp Channel to another admin.
In doing so, you can also choose to dismiss yourself as an Admin.
Invite Multiple Admins to the WhatsApp Channel on Desktop
The option to invite multiple admins is also available for WhatsApp Desktop app users. Once again, we suggest updating the app on your Mac or Windows PC, as this feature might not be available with the current app version.
Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your Mac or Windows PC.
Step 2: Click on Updates and select your Channel.
Step 3: Go to your channel name at the top.
Step 4: Scroll down and select Invite Admins.
Step 5: Enter your contact name and click on the green icon to confirm.
Step 6: Click the Send icon to send the invite.
Remove Admins From WhatsApp Channel on Desktop
Once you have added different admins to your WhatsApp Channel, here’s how you can remove them when needed. The steps apply once again to both Mac and Windows PC users.
Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your Mac or Windows PC.
Step 2: Go to your Channel and click the Channel name.
Step 3: Right-click on the Admin’s name who you wish to remove and select Dismiss As Admin.
Step 4: Click OK to confirm.
To revoke the admin invite after sending it, right-click the contact name and select Revoke Invite.
Then click on Revoke Invite to confirm.
It’s good to add multiple admins to your WhatsApp Channel, especially if you are away and don’t have access to your account. In addition to joining existing groups, you can also create a community on WhatsApp. This community is different from a channel, as it comprises a collection of related groups. If you have multiple WhatsApp groups, you can create a community instead of a channel. But then, when should you create a Channel? And what else makes it different from a Community?
