9 Ways to Fix Crunchyroll App Not Working or Loading

Regular anime watchers are no strangers to Crunchyroll. You can use the Crunchyroll Android and iOS app to scroll between different genres, check out the latest episodes, or listen to the latest anime-themed music. However, this is all for naught if the Crunchyroll app is not working or loading on your mobile.

How to Fix Crunchyroll App Not Working or Loading on Your Phone

First, you must check if your network connection is working as expected. If the issue persists, check the app and the corresponding device settings to ensure all is in order. Keep reading to learn how to do this and more on Android and iPhone.

1. Check Your Internet Connection

The Crunchyroll app uses internet, Wi-Fi or mobile data, to stream content on your phone. So, if your internet speed is inadequate or constantly fluctuating, it might not load Crunchyroll videos properly. To check if this is the case, run a speed test and check your current internet speed.

Check Your Internet Connection

Alternatively, open a streaming app, like YouTube or Netflix, and play a video. If the video is constantly buffering or streaming at low quality, switch from mobile data to Wi-Fi. Or, if it is unavailable, enable and disable Airplane Mode. Then, check again to see if your internet speed has stabilized.

2. Check App Server Status

If a new show or episode of a popular show has been recently released, it can overload or crash Crunchyroll’s servers. This will cause the app to slow down or not work at all. To check this, head to Downdetector’s Crunchyroll server status page and see if any recent reports have been made. If so, wait before using the app again.

3. Restart Your Phone

If you repeatedly experience issues with one or more apps, restart your phone to fix them. This will help resolve any temporary system bugs or glitches causing the apps to error out or not work at all. Here’s how to do it on Android and iPhone.

On Android

Step 1: Long-press the Power button to open the Power menu.

Step 2: Here, tap on Restart.

If you try to watch a show currently unavailable in your country, route the Crunchyroll app through a VPN. However, this can throttle your internet connection, causing issues when streaming at full HD. When this happens, try disconnecting the VPN and using the app again. However, this will cause certain titles not to work, especially if they’re unavailable for your location.

Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Open the relevant VPN app on your device.
